Emacs is a portal into the power of the computer itself, and that is a rabbit hole worth descending. Its idioms are paths to discovering and creating your own, and that for me is the definition of creativity. One of the sad things about modern computing is that it is largely made up of black boxes with shiny interfaces that provide momentary gratification rather than real satisfaction.

I’m not sure I’d refer to modern computing as “sad” but I love this: “Emacs is a portal into the power of the computer itself”
